Cutting out an item with the pen tool



With Photoshop's pen tool you have two options: Create a new work path and Create a new shape layer. You can do all kinds of things using the pen tool, you can use it are we are going to now. Cut and Paste into one other image. You can make a shape out of it and blow it up to make cool retro look on images. Or just fill it in with color or a gradient. Now on to selecting the tool: In your right side of Photoshop navigation. You?ll se:


We will use the Create a new work path option as this the most commonly used. You can find these options in the top left hand corner of the Photoshop window. See the image below.


Well to start of we do need and image to cut out the image from right? Well I will be using my newly wedding picture I have.


Well now I zoomed into the picture to about 400%, the smart ting to do is to stay inline of your shame. That means just right inside of the blended colors, if you se how I just pointed the pen tool a small inch inside of her hear, this will give you and easy way to cut and past into other images without any problems with colors or borders!


Now you go all the way around your shape, making sure you select all of the corners etc!
Don?t worry if you miss a spot and realize it later on, then just press down your CTRL and hold it. While you use your mouse on left click it and drag it to the point you want it! Ok!

Well now, that you have gone around your WHOLE shape. Right click and do those steps.



?and done! ;) Now the hard part is over? press CTRL + C (To copy it)
And apply it to any picture you want! Just press CTRL + V.
